Event description

Description

Neurologist, Oliver Sacks, stated, “It really is a very odd business that all of us, to varying degrees, have music in our heads.” Throughout our life we connect important memories to music. Music is used to celebrate significant milestones. Many people experience the physiological effects of goose bumbs when listening to a meaningful and emotional song. INSPIRING AUSTRLIA welcomes the public to Music & The Brain forum, hosted by the Australian Music Therapy Association with Dr Imogen Clark (PhD, PGradDip-MusThrp, DipAppSci-Nursing), post-doctoral research fellow and lecturer at the University of Melbourne, and registered music therapist at Austin Health. Her primary research interest focusses on music therapy for older adults and people with neuro-degenerative disease. Learn about the therapeutic use of music for people with dementia and their carers and bring back some practical tools in using music in care giving. Learn about valuable music therapy programs across Tasmania. For further information please email musicistherapy@outlook.com
