INNER WEST CODE AMENDMENT – COMMUNITY DROP-IN SESSION

INNER WEST CODE AMENDMENT – COMMUNITY DROP-IN SESSION

Overview

Learn about the draft Inner West Code Amendment, proposed planning changes and how you can have your say.

The draft Inner West Code Amendment is currently open for public consultation.

Prepared by the Department for Housing and Urban Development (DHUD), the code amendment proposes changes to planning policies in parts of Hindmarsh, Southwark Grounds, Henley Beach Road, Marion Road and Brooker Terrace to support additional housing and create vibrant mixed-use communities close to Adelaide's city centre.

The proposal includes:

  • rezoning parts of Hindmarsh to support mixed-use development and additional housing opportunities
  • increasing building heights in selected parts of Hindmarsh
  • introducing affordable housing requirements in rezoned areas
  • Apply a precinct approach to off street car parking for dwellings on the Southwark Grounds.
  • correcting building height settings in parts of Henley Beach Road, Marion Road and Brooker Terrace.

Community feedback will help inform the final version of the code amendment before it is considered by the Minister for Planning.

Public consultation is open until 11:59 pm Monday 1 February 2027.
