Injury Prevention Seminar
Expert guidance on injury prevention for runners and those with an increased running volume (e.g., those preparing for HYROX).
Learn practical strategies to stay strong, reduce injury risk, and keep your performance on track as your mileage and intensity build.
Presented by Rachel Lynn and Kev Toonen
Rachel Lynn graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland. Rachel has a deep understanding of the demands of endurance sports, and the importance of strength training, pilates and mobility for both injury prevention and recovery. She takes a patient-centred approach to pain management, combining manual therapy with tailored exercise programs to help individuals recover fully and perform at their best.
She is joined by Kev Toonen, who has spent two decades as a strength coach in elite team environments across NRL and Rugby Union, as well as in the private sector.
This seminar is a practical deep dive into smart run programming, how to structure load, weekly volume, and training frequency, so you can build fitness without stacking unnecessary risk.
We’ll break down the key drivers of common running injuries, the warning signs of overload, and how to use simple progression rules to manage hills, speed work, and long runs across a training block.
You’ll leave with clear injury prevention strategies, strength and mobility priorities that genuinely transfer to running, and an easy-to-apply framework to adjust your plan in real time based on soreness, performance, and recovery.
