Event description

Description

This information session will discuss what the hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) phase down means for HFC users, including equipment owners and technicians, and other changes to the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Program to reduce emissions and increase efficiency. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.

The HFC phase down was announced by the Australian Government in June 2016 along with other measures to reduce emissions and increase the efficiency of the Program. The HFC phase down is a gradual reduction in the maximum amount of HFCs permitted to be imported into Australia. Australia’s HFC phase down began on 1 January 2018. HFCs are the most commonly used gases in refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and are also used in fire suppression, foam blowing, aerosols and medical applications. Phasing down imports of HFCs will lead directly to reduced emissions of these global warming gases.
