Patient Voice Initiative

A workshop for patients and patient groups who want to know:

how decisions are made about access to medicines and treatments in Australia and

<LI>
how their knowledge and experience can better inform those decisions.
</LI>
</UL>
This workshop may also be helpful to healthcare professionals wanting to further understand how to direct patients to have a voice in decision making.
The half-day workshop includes presentations from patients with experience of contributing to these decisions and representatives of the government bodies which make the decisions. Additionally, there will be interactive activities to provide practical experience of making submissions.

1. Is the event free?

2. How can I travel to the event? 
Train: The Amora Hotel is a few minutes walk from Wynyard Station
Car: Please be aware of light rail road works in George Street. A drop off zone is located in front of the hotel. Car parking is to the rear at Secure Park, York Street. Amora delegate rate is $47 for parking between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. Tickets must be validated by the concierge and paid to Secure Parking directly.
3. Do you offer parking and public transport subsidies to patients and patient groups attending the workshop?
Yes. Please keep a receipt or ticket and pick up a form on the day to be reimbursed. We will reimburse promptly.
4. If I can't attend, can someone else go in my place?
Yes, please contact us so we can update our information for the day. Note our advice regarding infection control below.
5. If I am concerned about the risk of infection to myself or others attending, what is your advice to participants?
Please be aware that the Patient Voice Initiative can not take responsibility for any health issue that may arise from your attendance at our events. Interaction between patient groups may pose considerable and documented risk for some patient cohorts. If you believe there could be a risk to yourself or others in your attendance or you are unwell with viral symptoms on the day of the event, please consider sending a carer, family member or advocate in your place. If you have questions, concerns or special requirements please get in contact with PVI prior to your registration and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. PVI aims to enhance the voice of all patients, if you are unable to attend one of our events we will soon have resources available online.
 6. I'm a representative of a patient/health consumer organisation, how many people can attend from our organisation?
To ensure we reach as many patients and their representatives as possible, we have limited places to two per organisation. If the causes a particular problem, please contact us.
7. I can't attend, do you have any other training options?
The Patient Voice Initiative will provide other training workshops in other capital cities. It is also developing this material so that it can be accessed from its website.
