International Women’s Day Forum: Balancing the Scales is a two-hour community event designed in consultation with and for women with spinal cord injury and physical disability. The event creates a safe, inclusive space to explore what equity truly means for women whose identities and experiences sit at the intersection of gender and disability.
Held at the Anglesea Room at C3, the forum will feature a keynote address from Tasmanian Disability Comissioner and women with lived experience, Catherine Whitington as well as a panel highlighting diverse voices, and a guided roundtable discussion. Attendees will explore ideas such as identity, access, health, safety, representation, and how “balancing the scales” can look in everyday life
By bringing together women from across the region, the event hopes to foster peer connection, reduce social isolation, and strengthen community leadership. Insights gathered will help shape future women’s programs and ongoing peer support opportunities. This event celebrates International Women’s Day by amplifying voices too often left out of mainstream conversations.
