Overview

Join us for a webinar unpacking a major barrier to care for people with intellectual disability - health workforce education and training

People with intellectual disability experience some of the poorest health outcomes in Australia. Many of these outcomes can be prevented with access to high‑quality, inclusive care.

People with intellectual disability are part of every community, and most health professionals will support them at some point in their careers. Yet university courses teach little, if anything, on intellectual disability, and health professionals are not required to complete training in this area.

Most health professionals want to provide safe, high-quality care but are not equipped with the skills, training, and confidence to do so.

This must change.

This free webinar, hosted by the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health, will explore why better education and training are needed, the systemic changes required address the education gap, and how the Intellectual Disability Health Capability Framework is helping to drive change towards safe and inclusive health care.

If you are working in health care, health education, or health policy, this webinar is not to be missed.
