Implementing SSP with PLD in the Early Years
One-Day Seminar (Perth, Western Australia)
One-Day Seminar (Perth, Western Australia)
One-Day Seminar What to Expect
Learn to implement PLD’s evidence-based Structured Synthetic Phonics (SSP) programs in the Early Years (ECE) with practical routines that build strong pre-literacy, oral language and motor foundations for school readiness. Aligned to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the approach complements play-based learning with intentional teaching across school-based Kindergarten/Preschool and Early Childhood Centres.
This single-day intensive seminar is delivered during school holiday breaks only, improving access for our regional participants, as well as easing staffing pressures during term time.
The one-day seminar delivers core SSP training using PLD for educators working in the Early Years (ECE) - the years before formal schooling (3 - 4 years of age). The seminar content complements play-based learning with intentional, short explicit routines that build pre-literacy, motor and oral language foundations preparing children for their first formal year/s of schooling. Participants learn to use the PLD Screening as quick progress checks to monitor phonological skills and alphabet-sound development, record results in Tracking Sheets and form targeted teaching groups to form a term-ready plan so children are well-prepared for Foundation.
* Early Years – known as Kindergarten in WA, QLD, SA and TAS, and Preschool in NSW, ACT, NT and VIC
Tracking Sheet Data
Recommended: This seminar includes a short workshop segment for planning with your own data. If you (or your school) is currently implementing PLD, please bring recent class data (screening/placement results and access to PLD Tracking Sheets) so we can maximise the coaching time available in the session and ensure you leave with a classroom-ready plan for the upcoming term.
Also Available
Two-Day Seminar Option (Guided Implementation): Workshop time is limited in the one-day intensive. For added support and coaching, the two-day seminar runs as two full-day sessions a week apart in-term, creating an implementation window to apply PLD in your classroom and return for guided feedback and next steps.
