Kara Wood is a Newcastle-based mixed-media, multidisciplinary artist whose work challenges narratives and redefines space. With a foundation in ceramics and fine art from Newcastle Art School, she has spent over 25 years refining a practice that spans sculpture, installation, and assemblage.
Working across both intimate and large-scale formats, Wood’s work is conceptually rich and visually striking, often exploring themes of history, power, and societal structures. Her installations immerse audiences in layered storytelling, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary critical discourse.
Wood’s work, She was all of them and none of them, is currently in Mud to Masterpiece and has been exhibited in solo, group, and curated invitational exhibitions both nationally and internationally, most recently at the Art Gallery of New South Wales as a Wynne Prize Finalist.
