Mary Vanbee and Jessie Moora from Yakanarra Remote Community (Kimberley, WA) and Nina Black from Milikapiti Remote Community on Melville Island (NT) are just a handful of women in remote communities who are working to preserve their language and culture.
Working with our Foundation, they have helped children in their communities create stories and songbooks, which are now published and available through our Community Publishing Project.
Join us for a special presentation from our Program Manager, Tina Raye, to learn more about what impact these remarkable women have had and continue to have.

The Indigenous Literacy Foundation is a national book industry charity, which aims to reduce the disadvantage experienced by children in remote Indigenous communities across Australia, by lifting literacy levels and instilling a lifelong love of reading. They do this through supplying new, culturally relevant books and literacy resources, with an focus on early literacy, and publishing community stories, many in first languages.
