About this event

The Engineering in Communities session is especially for Principal and Major Partners of the IAES.

We extend an invitation to you, our eleven Principal and Major Partners, to recommend one of your engineers to share a 10-15 minute story with the Year 9, 10 and 11 students of this year's IAES.

  • BOC (Principal Partner)
  • Woodside (Principal Partner)
  • Arcadis
  • Arup
  • Aurecon
  • Ernst & Young
  • Google
  • Honeywell
  • Laing O'Rourke
  • SMEC
  • Veolia

The story should be about how an engineering project that they have worked on has changed a community for the better. We find that stories related to Aboriginal communities, and those shared by an early career or graduate engineer (especially an Indigenous engineer) are always well-received. However there is no requirement for this.

The key point here is for your engineer to tell a story that is important to them, and therefore is likely to be engaging for the students.

From those recommended engineers, we will finalise a list of 4 or 5 to participate in the session, which we tend to keep to around 60-80 minutes. Priority will go to the Principal Partners, then to Major Partners.

Please note that this session occurs just before the Networking and Careers Event (from 4 to 6pm), so it might work well for the engineer you send to be participating in that session as well.

Any queries, don't hesitate to contact me. Please RSVP by the 11th of September.
