For over ten years Marguerita worked as a Clinical Educator in ICU, Simulation and Acute Care settings. She has strong knowledge and skills in the areas of Vascular Access and Counterpulsation, and is an advocate for improving patient outcomes through evidence based clinical practice. This combined with Marguerita’s extensive critical care experience ensures that she facilitates engaging clinical learning opportunities for all.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Apply key IABP principles to decide on the appropriateness of therapy for your patient
  • Prepare and insert an IAB catheter or assist with same
  • Correctly set-up and start-up the IABP for patient use
  • Use the arterial waveform and related pressures to monitor and optimise IABP therapy
  • Use triggers and timing to optimise IABP therapy
  • Troubleshoot alarms using the balloon pressure waveform
  • Safely wean IABP therapy and remove the IAB catheter or assist with same

A link to Pre-Reading material is provided in your Confirmation Email. It is expected that all participants will have completed the pre-reading and answered all questions prior to the workshop. This will facilitate the uptake and understanding of theoretical concepts.
