HSC Workshop: Advanced Maths
This workshop will equip Advanced Maths students with a plethora of useful study resources and empower them to make best use of their time.
The act of studying for mathematics examinations is significantly different to all other HSC subjects. This session, presented by Stuart Palmer, will equip students with a plethora of useful study resources.
It will also empower students to make best use of their time before and during their examinations.
Content and intent of the session:
- How to summarise maths topics
- Examination strategies
- Gaining maximum benefit from the HSC Reference Sheet
- Using past HSC papers and solutions
- Aspects of topics that are new to NSW or different to the previous syllabuses
- The ‘common questions’ in Advanced Paper
- Questions worth 4 or 5 marks without parts a, b, c.
Students are encouraged to bring their own lunch, water bottle and snacks, as well as note-taking suppies.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Stuart Palmer has been helping students prepare for HSC mathematics examinations for five decades. He is the lead author of the series of textbooks for Year 7 to 10 called Cambridge MATHS NSW Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum. He taught in NSW schools for 26 years and more recently has been assisting and advising teachers and students.
ABOUT THE VENUE:
ASHFIELD TOWN HALL is accessible from ground level. The venue is accessible for people using wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
