How to Green Your Verge: Mitcham Community Session
A practical session on verge greening, approvals, and Council support to help residents get started.
Note: While we welcome anyone who wants to garden on the verge, please be mindful that this event is tailored for residents of The City of Mitcham.
This Verge Greening Information Session is designed to help residents of the City of Mitcham understand how they can safely and successfully landscape the verge in front of their property.
At this session, Council staff will outline the City of Mitcham's Verge Greening Initiative and guide attendees through the practical steps to get started, including what verge landscaping is encouraged, what is not permitted, and how to use the new online checklist-based permit process. The session will also introduce the Verge Greening Guide, featuring example verge garden designs, planting and safety considerations, maintenance responsibilities, and information about Council support and the Verge Greening Incentive Scheme.
This session is suitable for residents who are considering greening their verge, are in the early planning stages, or simply want to learn more before making a decision. There will be time for questions and discussion, and attendees are encouraged to bring along ideas or queries specific to their property.
