How It Feels | A Creative Art Series (Youth Session, 12-18yrs)
A creative program part of the City of Ryde Artist-in-Residence Initiative
As part of City of Ryde’s Artist-in-Residence program, we are delighted to offer a new creative series and opportunity to meet our artist 2026 artist - Tom Isaacs
How It Feels is a hands-on creative workshop series that invites the community to explore emotion through making. Guided by artist Tom Isaacs, resident artist for the City of Ryde, participants will create an original textile artwork that expresses a feeling that is meaningful to them. The session encourages personal expression, experimentation, and finding visual ways to communicate ideas and experiences.
The workshop focuses on creative exploration, skill sharing, and connection. Participants are encouraged to try different materials and techniques, develop their own ideas and style, and work in a supportive, non-judgemental environment. Sessions also provide a relaxed space to meet other young people, share perspectives, and connect through making.
All materials and tools will be provided, and no prior sewing or textile experience is required. Participants are also welcome to bring their own fabric, thread, or sewing materials—either to use in their work or to donate to the workshops.
Workshop participants are invited to contribute their finished piece to a larger collective artwork, bringing together many individual expressions into a shared community work.
