Housing Round Table Workshop
Event Information
About this event
In mid-2021, the Queensland Government announced a new Queensland Housing and Homelessness Action Plan 2021-2025 inclusive of the Queensland Housing Investment Growth Initiative. Realising the complexity of housing markets, the vital importance of a healthy housing system and the need for diverse housing solutions involving multi-sectoral partnerships, CHIA Qld and Q Shelter collaborated with key stakeholders to deliver an inaugural Queensland Housing Round Table on 20 July 2021.
The meeting analysed the opportunities presented in the Queensland State Budget, considered effective models of partnership and delivery, and assessed how these opportunities can be fully enabled in Queensland.
The inaugural forum agreed to establish an ongoing role for a Queensland Housing Round Table consisting of invited leaders from diverse peak bodies, financial institutions and community housing providers. As housing markets continue to prevent more and more people accessing affordable housing to rent or buy, the role of the Round Table as a key group of committed leaders is critical.
The Round Table will identify one or two strategic actions and work for those actions through our substantive roles. There are immediate opportunities to shape a National Government approach while also helping with Queensland State Government focus on all the potential ways in which a healthy housing system can be achieved.
Members will receive an invitation to register for the February meeting.
