About this event

The Victorian Women's Health Services, Epworth Hospital, Victorian Women's Trust and the Women's Spirit Project are pleased to offer a free panel discussion via webinar for a diverse audience. We invite people experiencing menopause, community and practitioners in healthcare, health promotion and community services staff to attend this webinar. Join us seeking to increase your knowledge of menopause, its impacts on women and how it can be better managed.

Menopause is a natural part of life, when menstrual periods stop. However, while menopause is a normal part of reproductive health, it can cause a lot of discomfort, apprehension, or distress.

Symptoms of menopause can range from very mild to severe and can include hot flushes and night sweats, insomnia or difficulty sleeping, aches and pains, headaches, mood disturbances or irritability, low self-esteem, weight fluctuations, reduced libido or sex drive, fatigue or tiredness, needing to urinate more frequently, vaginal dryness and discomfort during sexual intercourse. Some of these symptoms can impact overall health and wellbeing, personal relationships and workforce participation.

This webinar will feature a panel of expert guests:

  • Dr Fatima Khan, MBBS, BSc, DRCOG, MRCGP, FRACGP, BMS Accredited Menopause Specialist at the Epworth Hospital
  • Jodie Belyea, community change-maker and wellbeing ambassador, founder and Managing Director of the Women's Spirit Project
  • Mary Crooks, AO recipient, feminist, public policy specialist and Executive Director of the Victorian Women's Trust

The learning outcomes for participants are:

  • Enhance your understanding of menopause, and its impacts, on physical and mental health and wellbeing, including sexual health.
  • Increase your understanding of the impacts of menopause on employment and experiences in the workplace.
  • Increase your understanding of how to access support and symptom management for menopause, including different treatment options available.
