The 'Hills Business Growth Series' is a free workshop series that provides easy‑to‑understand guidance on the core foundations every business needs. From finding your customers and selling with confidence, to mastering profit, marketing and technology, recruitment, scaling and much more!

This series is an initiative of The Hills Shire Council in partnership with MTCFutureReady.

Workshop details

The 'Hills Business Growth Series’ series is split into three blocks: Start, Build, and Scale. Each block has themed workshops taking place on various dates throughout the year:

START

• Business Basics: Tuesday, 24 February at 6pm

Our first START session is focused on the first step of your entrepreneurial journey. From business structure and a plan, to ABN and tax requirements, advertising needs, staffing and risks.

• Who Are Your Customers: Tuesday, 24 March at 9am

This START session focuses on identifying your customers. From market evaluation and targeting to trends and competitor research, you'll gain clarity on your ideal audience.

• How to Sell Like a Pro: Tuesday, 28 April at 6pm

Our last START session delivers real value through sales techniques. From product pricing to customer service, diving into the customer journey, upselling and much more.

BUILD

• Master Cashflow & Profit First: Tuesday, 26 May at 1.30pm

Our first BUILD session builds on business resilience. From assessing your finances and costs to tax requirements, budget tracking and forecasting.

• Marketing: The Key to Customers: Tuesday, 23 June at 1.30pm

This BUILD session is all about marketing data: including marketing strategy and planning, ROI and metric performance.

• Your Systems & Technology: Tuesday, 18 August at 1.30pm

Our last BUILD session covers systems and technological tools you can use for your business (eg. Excel, accounting software, website, etc.)

SCALE

• Recruitment & Retention: Tuesday, 15 September at 6pm

This SCALE session gives you the DO’s and DON’Ts for staffing, from resourcing and management to retention strategies, among others.

• Scale Your Business: Tuesday, 27 October at 6pm

Our very last series SCALE session covers practical steps for scaling a business and associated speed considerations to keep in mind.

Each session and block can be attended independently, but we strongly recommend joining all workshops to leverage your training.
