High School Student Workshop: Music, the Human Body, and Clay
Fri. 9 December 2016, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm AEDT
Dr Patricia Flanagan transforms materials and objects . She’s one of the most innovative designers practicing today and she works in a range of disciplines and areas such as contemporary textiles, ceramics, and technology. For example Patricia explores unexpected ways that design and technology can meet in the output of interactive clothing and homewares. She’s created self-wrapping textiles, clothes that change colour based on body temperature, and now she’s making ceramics that can sing.
In this workshop, Patricia will be taking participants in to the ceramics studio where they will explore music and its relationship to the human body through clay. Participants will sculpt and shape clay based on and incorporating audio input. Patricia says it will “be like a life drawing class with clay and infused with the distinctive surround experience that only sound can provide.”
