Berries are a very successful crop in Tasmania, and growing a range of berries ensures continuous fresh berries from early December until late March. They are also delicious preserved as jams, jellies and frozen fresh. In this workshop, Bonnie will explain how to grow a wide range of soft fruit, including strawberries, raspberries, currants, gooseberries and blueberries. Learn how to design your soft fruit garden, including how to plan for longer harvests of fresh berries and how much of each fruit you need to grow for various family sizes. Bonnie will show you the support structures necessary, how and when to plant them and how to feed the soil they grow in. Learn how to train soft fruits to be easier to pick, fit into small spaces, and even how to create attractive espalier forms. Finally, Bonnie will show you how to prune each soft fruit to maximise harvests.
