Hidden Valley Workshops: Compost Making and Worm Farms

Instead of buying compost, mulch and fertilisers for your garden, why not learn the joys of composting and make this wonderful soil conditioner yourself? One annual mulch of compost is all you need to maintain healthy soil in your garden, and it couldn’t be easier! Bonnie will help you plan your composting set up, discuss different building options for your bays, and what composting materials to source. You will build a new heap, turn a maturing heap, and discuss how to solve any problems in the composting process as they come up. Bonnie will show you some finished compost, and how to make leaf mould. You will mix two different seed raising mixes with mature compost and finished leaf mould. Finally, Bonnie will show you the two methods of ‘composting’ cooked
food scraps - either in sealed bins or in worm farms.
