Lydham Hall was built in the 1860s and recently reopened after years of renovation. Join volunteers from the St. George Historical Society for a light morning tea and a fascinating exploration of this grand sandstone house’s history and some of the characters who have called it home.


About St. George Historical Society:

Founded in 1961, the St George Historical Society is dedicated to promoting and conserving the history of the St George District of New South Wales, Australia, for the benefit of members, affiliated societies and the broader community. The Society presents an active program of events, publishes the Our History magazine, maintains a library and museum collections, provides research services and hosts exhibitions in the New South Wales State Heritage-listed, Lydham Hall Historic House and Museum. The Society is a not-for-profit voluntary organisation.


About Local Studies:

Our Local Studies Team support the preservation and promotion of the Georges River Council through the research and collection of local historical materials such as maps, photographs and newspapers to gain a deeper understanding of our history, culture, and community.

  • For participants under the age of 16, parents and/or guardians of children must remain in the library for the duration of the program.
  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue
  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces and repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations, bookings may be refused in the future.
