hazards of swimming naked are a Brisbane based, 5-piece instrumental band originating from Queensland's tropical far north. The humidity and vibrancy of that region permeates their music and culminates in a sound which shares all the cinematic grandeur of artists such as Mogwai, godspeed you black emperor and Mono. Returning to the live scene after their support of Sweden's Katatonia at the Triffid earlier this year; hazards take over The Bearded Lady in West End, Brisbane with their signature intertwining guitar melodies, Saturday May 18, playing a headlining length set.
hazards of swimming naked will be supported by Echotide, who are launching a new single and returning to the live scene after a long hibernation. With a new album releasing later this year, and their new single "All Frequencies Wide Open" showcasing their slow-burn, reverb-drenched sound, Echotide live are an cinematic/post rock four piece with a dynamic sound ranging from delicate and introspective ambience to an all-encompassing wall of sound.
Featuring on the night will be Gold Coast based post rock group the sea shall not have them, a dynamic, instrumental two piece with an appetite for glorious noise that you can swim in. The group are fresh from a blistering run of 2023 shows alongside Mono, Shihad, Magic Dirt, Astrodeath and many others.
Also joining the lineup is Brisbane based neo-noir collective Ghostwoods in quartet mode, joined by special guest Mia Goodwin, playing their simmering brand of introspective, cinematic, atmospheric music that engages the senses.
