About this event

Safe storage and handling of hazardous waste has come into the spotlight after the recent chemical waste fires in Victoria. Incident prevention offers the best defence against the risk of injury, death, property damage, environmental damage and the cost associated with clean up. Understanding and implementing controls to the hazards associated with chemical waste and your compliance requirements is essential to reducing your companies risk profile.

DWER, and DMIRS have teamed up to clarify and discuss regulatory and safety requirements in the areas of hazardous waste management and other hazards causing injuries and fatalities in the industry. The workshop will examine and review:

  • Regulatory Frameworks: legislation, licencing and enforcement
  • Learnings from past incidents in WA waste facilities
  • Common non-compliances in the waste industry
  • Safety considerations - incident prevention and response

Presenters:

Dragana Vukmirovic – Senior Dangerous Goods Officer (DMIRS)

Matt Peers - Pollution Response Officer (DWER)

Keith Trayner –WorkSafe Senior Inspector (DMIRS)
