Description

Persons working with chemicals need to be trained to safely handle the substances.

This training provides information and skills for workers that handle, store and manage chemical safety.

CONTENT:

  • Safety Laws and key Australian Standards for chemicals;
  • Classification of hazardous chemicals and dangerous goods;
  • The GHS Standard;
    • Labelling chemical containers;
    • How to read and understand an SDS;
    • Safe storage and handling of chemicals;
    • Chemical Register, Placarding and Manifest requirements;
    • Chemical Risk Assessments;
  • Identifying appropriate controls;
  • All participants receive a detailed workbook including chemical safety checklists.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify potential hazards from chemicals;
  • Know what legislation and guidance to use when assessing chemical risks;
  • Be able to read and interpret an SDS;
  • Accurately assess the chemical risks;
  • Apply the hierarchy of control when reducing chemical risks;
  • Understand best practice handling and storage.
