Haus of Rempong - An Indonesian Queer Fundraising
Joy with an edge. Indonesian Queer voices unfold through storytelling, music, burlesque, and drag. Crafted to move, provoke, and linger.
We acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the original custodians of this land. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
Rempong (adj.)
A little messy, a little dramatic, and very us.
The Why
You leave home, cross oceans, and find freedom in a new place. You dance, you connect, you fall in love. Then real life begins. Somewhere between where you came from and where you are now, you build a life here while missing the songs, the food, the inside jokes that raised you. In the noise of Sydney Mardi Gras, in the high of adrenaline and flashing lights, sometimes all you need to do is simply be in the room. Remember this: you are always coming home. Home is not always a country, but a moment, a night, people who see you.
This Mardi Gras season, come sit with us at Haus of Rempong — An Indonesian Queer Fundraising. One night of drag, dance, music, burlesque, and real-life storytelling, centring Indonesian Queer voices from home, from the diaspora, and everything in between. Hosted by IQC, a volunteer-run, not-for-profit and registered charity (www.iqc.org.au). This is our third annual fundraising event at the Stonewall Hotel. Every year it’s sold out, and this year promises to be just as special.
The Fundraising
Your ticket keeps the lights on, literally. You’ll be supporting Indonesian Queer artists and helping fund the operations of IQC, the first Indonesian Queer charity organisation in Australia. Grants didn’t come through, but community always does.
Date: Thursday, 26 February [6.30 - 9.30 pm]
Tickets are LIVE now! [Scan the QR code]
Celebrate Loud. Give Back Proud.
