About this event
During this farm experience we will take you on a tour of our organic farm.
We will have a look through our blueberry orchard, pick your own crop area and learn how we grow organically and in harmony with the world around us. You will see how we prepare our garlic for planting and how we grow using plant tissue testing for wonderful, nutritionally dense crops.
We will learn about our Babydoll sheep, including Spring, our teeny orphan and our small herd of dairy goats. We have 3 does due to kid around Harvest Festival weekend, so hopefully they'll be born too. You will be able to feed and pat our goats and sheep as well. They certainly love a good scratch!
We will have a look at how we grow organic chickens for organic eggs and you can even pat and feed some chickens! Our 80 baby chicks should also be here for you to see as well!
We will take you through our spring bulbs where you can see how we grow 7000 daffodils, tulips, dutch irises, hyacinths and alliums. And we will let you know what is in the works, for the farm, for the next 12 months. We are pretty excited!
Our events are very interactive, so if you have questions please feel free to ask them.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the recent extremes in weather our pick your own crops have taken a hit and will not be available for picking. However we regularly have picking events for seasonal veggies and flowers right through the year. Our next event will be at the end of June for picking.
The farm is also very wet and muddy, so please wear appropriate shoes for this type of ground and be careful when walking around the farm.
BIOSECURITY & SHOES: As we are an organic farm we have requirements for our certification. One of these is that everyone must go through a disinfectant shoe bath at the entrance of the farm. The shoe bath is diluted bleach. Please make sure you wear shoes that are appropriate for this and we appreciate your understanding!
