About this event

Harper’s Mansion was built by James and Mary Harper soon after 1834, when they bought land in Berrima township. James Harper was the only son of William Harper and Margaret Morgan, both convicts.

A grand vision derailed by a 19th century financial downturn, Harper’s Mansion stands on two of its original 100 acres. It has been lovingly restored after decades of use and neglect and the main house is once again open for you to view.

Come and enjoy the garden with family and friends, and delight in the twists and turns of the leafy maze - one of the largest in Australia. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy amongst the superb heritage roses and buy some plants to take a little bit of Harper’s Mansion home with you.

Tickets valid for entry on the date of purchase between 11am - 3pm.

Make a day of it and head to Retford Park House and Gardens in Bowral - less than a 15 minute drive away and perfect for families with its acres of gardens to stroll through, a delightful self-led art and nature trail and stunning pink Victorian Italianate house to tour.
