Julie is a Naturopath and mum of 2 teenagers. For most of her life she has had multiple gut disorders and found a comon weakness with the digestive system through some of her family members. As a child/teen Julie remembers being unwell regularly with tonsilitis, migranes, fatigue and underweight. As an adult she found she could never put on weight nor did she absorb nutrients properly. Even when she became a mum, grew her own food, spent hours in the kitchen with meal prep and her passion to feed her family well, she never really felt nourished enough and always had a huge appetite.
After each of her children's homebirths, Julie began experiencing symptoms of ulcerative collitis (IBD) but it always passed. Seven years ago, Julie then experienced the serious effects of undiagnosed food intolerances, IBS, leaky gut, nutrient deficiencies, anxiety, hyperthyroidism and adrenal fatigue. Julie also experienced extreme long term stress (mainly resulting from the breakdown of her marriage), was finalizing her Naturopathy studies and raising her two young children mostly on her own. Julie very suddenly developed severe symptoms and (golden staph) absceses and a fistula, caused by inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative collitis) and had not one, but two emergency surgeries over 12 months. Hospital gastroenterologists tried telling Julie that nutrition, stress and foods had nothing to do with her condition and the best thing she could do is to go home until it occurs again and then she most likely will need to have her bowel removed. No big deal, just like that! Julie knew she could get amazing improvements if she focused on her health holistically and listened carefully to her body. Julie knew there was no time to mess about anymore. This was crunch time.
Over the next 2-3 years, Julie began intensive healing with foods, nutrients (supplements), herbal tinctures, minerals, stress and lifestyle management, carefully observing her bodies signals and setting her own limits. Finding appropriate practitioners, spending hours every day on meal prep, increasing awareness of her body and knowledge as a Naturopath/Herbalist no doubt helped her heal without the need for further surgery or drugs, which most people use regularly to manage IBD (ulcerative collitis). She healed herself naturally, gained 8kg's to a more healthy weight, restored the function of her gastrointestinal system (and improved other systems effected) and improved her overall health and wellbeing once and for all.
We've got a gut feeling you'll gain so much from this workshop! Please come along, bring a friend or family member. Sometimes it's difficult for people to talk about their digestive habits but due to Julie's own health experiences she has true empathy and understanding to help others heal and share information using her naturopathy knowledge and personal experience. To help lighten the topic a little, we'll also have a few laughs and include some gut health trivia! It's sure to be the most entertaining "crappy" informative night you've been to.
So grab your ticket and see you there!
