Hands-on Workshop: Build AI Agents & Automation Workflows
Build real AI automation workflows hands-on with n8n and Claude Code. No coding needed. Part of the Western Sydney AI Summit & Hackathon.
AI agents and automation workflows are transforming how people work — from automating daily research to managing emails, scheduling, and business operations. But where do you actually start?
In this full-day, hands-on workshop, you'll build a real, working AI automation workflow from scratch using two of the most popular tools available today:
- n8n — the leading visual AI workflow automation platform
- Claude Code — the leading AI coding agent that can build workflows for you through conversation
You'll start by learning the fundamentals — what AI agents are, how they make decisions, and how to connect them to real tools for taking actions. Then you'll build a working automation visually with n8n. In the afternoon, you'll discover how Claude Code can recreate and extend that same workflow using natural language.
One workflow. Two ways to build it. A foundation for your AI automation journey.
What you’ll learn:
- What AI agents are and how they work (e.g., system prompts, tools, decision-making)
- How to build automation workflows visually with n8n
- How to use Claude Code to create and modify workflows through conversation
- How these two approaches connect and when to use each
- Where to go next to keep building your skills
Who is this for:
- Anyone curious about AI automation and agents
- Small business owners wanting to automate repetitive tasks
- Entrepreneurs and innovators exploring AI-powered workflows
- Job seekers building practical AI skills
- Anyone preparing for the April AI Hackathon
Prerequisites: You should be comfortable using a chatbot like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude. No coding experience required.
What we provide:
- Pre-configured laptop stations with n8n and Claude Code ready to use — one station per team of 3–4 participants
- AI tool licenses and API access for the workshop
- All workshop materials, quick-reference guides, and take-home resources
- Light refreshments and lunch
What to bring:
- Your curiosity and a topic you'd love to get daily AI research on — you'll use it to build your workflow!
- Optional but Recommended: Your own laptop (BYOD). This will be useful for your team to collaborate on research, documentation, and preparing your final pitch.
