Description

The Halo World Championship returns to Sydney for another year and with more on the line than ever before, this will not be an event you will want to miss! Taking place over the 9th-11th of March, 2018 - the best Spartans from all over Australia and New Zealand will be competing for not only their share of $25,000, but also two qualification spots for the Halo World Championship 2018 finals to compete for $1,000,000!

For those looking to showcase their individual skill, we'll also be hosting a free-for-all tournament with a $5,000 prize pool. This is your chance to prove why you're the best individual player in the region!


Tournament Information:

  • ANZ Open Regional Final
  • $25,000 prize pool
  • 32 team, double elimination tournament
  • Matches will feature best of 5 and 7 matches.
  • This event will qualify the top two (2) teams directly to the HaloWC finals.
  • $5,000 FFA tournament. (Winner earns a trip to HaloWC Finals in Seattle, WA)

How many team passes are available for purchase?

  • There are 32 team passes available for purchase. These passes will sell out quickly, so be sure to purchase right away!

I can’t attend the event, but want to watch online. Where can I tune in?

Do I need a full team to purchase a team pass?

  • No, you can purchase a team pass now to secure a spot in the tournament, and provide team information after securing your pass. Upon purchasing a team pass, you will receive an email confirmation from EventBrite.

When I’m ready, where do I submit my team name, roster, and other information?

  • Within 24-48 hours of your team pass purchase, team pass owners will be individually emailed a registration form to be completed prior to the event. Please note that all registration forms must be completed by 12:00pm AEDT on Thursday, the 8th of March, 2017. Failure to have the form completed by this time may result in removal of your team from the competition.

I’m coaching a team – do I need to purchase anything?

  • A team pass includes tournament entry for 4 players and 1 coach. No additional purchases are necessary to coach.

Will there be a Free-For-All (FFA) competition at this event?

  • Yes! HaloWC Sydney will feature a $5,000 FFA tournament for any and all competitors. Best of luck to those competing! Be on the lookout for specific format details in the coming weeks.

If I buy a team pass, do I have to play in the FFA?

  • Purchasing a team pass does not mean you must play in the FFA. FFA is a great opportunity to prove your individual talent in the league and meet potential teammates for 4v4 competitions in the future.

I don’t live in Australia or New Zealand, can I compete in this tournament?

  • This tournament is the Australia and New Zealand Finals, and thus is only open to players from Australia or New Zealand.

What’s the age limit for this tournament?

  • The age limit to compete in this tournament is 13+ for players from New Zealand, and 15+ for players from Australia. Photo ID will be requested upon entry. No ID = NO ENTRY.

Is there a limit to the number of teams eligible to compete in this tournament?

  • Yes. The 4v4 Open Bracket portion of this tournament is limited to 32 teams.

What equipment should I bring if I’m competing?

  • You will need to bring your controller and a micro-USB cable for a wired connection from the controller to the Xbox One.
  • Batteries must be removed from the controller, so they are unable to power the controller.
  • Noise cancelling headsets for mainstage competition will be provided, however you will be required to bring earphones for game audio. Please also note that you must bring your own physical headset for competition play on all other stations. Headsets must use a single 3.5mm input.
