Description

To celebrate World Environment Day and its theme of connecting people to nature, we invite you to join us for a family day out at Field of Mars Reserve.

Fun free activities will be held throughout the day including short guided walks (bi-lingual with Mandarin and Korean translation), face painting, citizen science activities, a waste challenge and a sausage sizzle.

Bring your family and friends with a picnic or enjoy the BBQ food available on the day (gold coin donation)!

Session 2: Guided Walk (English with Korean translation) - 12pm-12.50pm

In this guided walk learn about our local flora and fauna and the ecology of our catchment area.




PARKING Limited parking is available as you enter Field of Mars Reserve off Pittwater Road. Please note there is no car access or parking allowed in the reserve itself. On street parking is available on Kennedy St and surrounding streets.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT Closest bus services include route 506 (Macquarie University & East Ryde to City) and route 536 (Gladesville to Chatswood). Please note: there is a walk of between 650m to 850m from the bus stops into the reserve.

WHO Adults, seniors and families with pre-school, primary school and high school aged children. Culturally and linguistically diverse communities are strongly encouraged to attend. Some language translation services will be available for the Chinese (Mandarin) and Korean communities.

SUITABILITY Short walks are easy grade and approximately 1-2 km in duration so a basic level of fitness and mobility is required. Activities and walks are conducted on a combination of sealed paths and occasional uneven surfaces (e.g. bush tracks).

EQUIPMENT Please bring your own picnic rug, water, water bottle, sunscreen and insect repellent.

CLOTHING Must be suitable for physical activity. Hats must be worn. Bring a jacket in the event of inclement weather.

FOOTWEAR Shoes must be sturdy, enclosed, have a non-slip sole and suitable for physical activity. Thongs, sandals and open toed shoes are not permitted.

NOTE No dogs or pets. No smoking. All children must be accompanied by a parent/carer.
