What to Expect:
Tour the Suburban Land Agency’s climate wise demonstration and courtyard gardens and see real-life examples of resilient garden design. Whether you have a balcony, a small courtyard, or a large garden and are starting from scratch or want some additional tips for your existing garden, this workshop is for you!
In this workshop, you’ll learn:
1. What a resilient climate wise garden is and why it matters
2. How to create a healthy, thriving garden
3. Key planning considerations: soil, sun/shade, slope
4. Smart plant choices for Canberra conditions
5. Water-wise irrigation techniques
6. Budget-friendly garden design tips
Receive a free climate wise gardening booklet and plant list.
Registrations: Registrations are essential to secure a place.
What to Bring:
If you have them, bring your garden designs and details about your space—such as your home’s orientation (aspect), preferred plants, location of hard surfaces, and the location of taps or your water meter. To take notes, bring pen and paper.
Where to Meet: Meet at the Mingle Community Space, SLA Display Village in Whitlam. It is located across the road from Heartbeat Cafe and up the footpath on the right. If you’re unsure where to go, follow signs into the Sales Suite and our friendly Sales staff will direct you!
Weather and comfort: Please wear comfortable, closed-in shoes and suitable attire for walking around the SLA Display Village gardens. We will cancel in the event of severe rain or storms and will contact you to let you know.
This workshop is suitable for people aged 18 and above. If children attend, they are the responsibility of their adult.
