About this event

This session provides an overview of the grief, loss and emotional impact of the changes caused by dementia. It provides information about the kinds of change and loss experienced with dementia, the ways people may experience and express their grief, and emotional coping strategies for family carers of someone living with dementia.

You will gain knowledge in:

  • your own responses to grief and loss
  • tools to help with support, networking and stress
  • strategies you can put in place to support your wellbeing.

Suitable for: Family carers and family members of people living with dementia. It is recommended that participants have previously attended an introductory session on dementia. This session is not suitable for professionals employed in the health or aged care sectors.

Dementia Australia's facilitators have specialist dementia knowledge, skills and experience. This session is focused on the carer and is delivered interactively. You will be encouraged to share your experiences alongside other participants giving you an opportunity to develop new support networks.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Free street parking available and disabled parking available onsite. The venue is a short walk from the Broadmeadow train station.

It is ideal if you can bring your ticket. However, if you have completed your registration, we will have your details and forgetting your ticket won’t be a problem.

This event is not suitable for professional carers or people employed in the health or aged care industries. The resources, content and delivery will not meet the needs of professionals.
