Native grasses form the foundation of many Australian ecosystems, providing vital food and shelter for wildlife. In this practical session, Ann will guide participants through the key features used to identify local native grasses, helping you build confidence in recognising species in the field.
Ann is the co-author of Plant Local to Attract Local, and we are delighted to welcome her to Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee (B4C).

Date: Sunday 8 March
Time: 9:00am
Cost: $15 per person
What to bring:
• Binoculars
• A phone or tablet (if possible) to view grasses up close as Ann explains key features
About Ann Moran
Ann is the Owner and Director of Jaeger-Moran Environmental, specialising in biodiversity and botanical surveys. She is a Principal Botanist on Greening Australia Queensland’s Panel of Experts and has over 30 years’ experience conducting flora and fauna surveys across South East Queensland and the Burnett–Mary regions.
Her work spans environmental impact assessments, vegetation mapping, conservation planning, rare and threatened species projects, and community education. Ann has worked extensively with community groups, catchment organisations, councils, Land for Wildlife and Coastcare programs, and has delivered environmental education through TAFE, U3A, Waterwatch and council programs. She also maintains a personal and professional herbarium and has contributed to botanical research and heritage studies across Queensland.
This workshop is ideal for Bushcare volunteers, landholders, students and nature lovers keen to deepen their understanding of native grasses and the ecosystems they support.
