Session 1_ WAG - Dance, Movement & Posture

Session Time: 9:30am - 11:00am

Presenter Bio:

Jodie McGinnity

Jodie is the current Gymnastics New South Wales Judging Co-ordinator. When she is not fulfilling her judging duties she can be found coaching extensively in her family owned and operated gymnastics club - Tamworth Gymnastics Club. Jodie is a familiar face on the competition floor and is known for producing engaging floor choreography.

Session Description:

Explore the ideal models for choreography and posture in Levels 3 – 6 and how judges will apply deductions. Discover some handy hints and tips for teaching Level 3 – 6 choreography whilst encouraging confidence and engagement during movements. It’s important to keep all of this FUN, so let Jodie demonstrate how to use music for beam complexes and popular music to learn rhythm and beats.

Session 2_ WAG - Building Blocks for Bars

Session Time: 11:30am - 1:00pm

Presenter Bio:

Peter Abbott & Lacie Jones

Peter and Lacie are the owners and directors of 360 Gymnastics in Coorparoo, Queensland. Both spend numerous hours every week coaching all levels of gymnastics including senior international women’s artistic gymnasts. They are highly regarded by the gymnastics community throughout Australia and frequently coach as part of the Gymnastics Australia National Team.

Session Description:

Basic shapes, head positioning and swing technique on uneven bars to build your athletes ability and set them up for future success. The break-down of the traditional swing action on women’s uneven bars will be examined step-by-step. This workshop is aimed at WAG Level 3 – 6.

Session 3_ WAG - Physical Preparation for WAG Level 3 - 6

Session Time: 1:30pm - 3:00pm

Presenter Bio:

Lacie Jones

Lacie is the co-owner and manager of 360 Gymnastics in Coorparoo, Queensland. Lacie spends numerous hours every week coaching all levels of gymnastics including senior international women’s artistic gymnasts. Lacie is highly regarded by the gymnastics community throughout Australia and has been repeatedly recognised as such through awards such as the Gymnastics Queensland Levels Coach of the Year.

Session Description:

Get your athletes in shape! Every training session needs to incorporate physical preparation to ensure your athletes can perform to their full potential. Examine the relevant strength and flexibility activities that you should be including to get your athletes stronger and protect their growing bodies. This workshop is aimed at WAG Level 3 – 6.

Session Recordings

All registrants will automatically be given access to view the recordings in the week following the online sessions. If you know you will be unable to attend the online sessions live but would like to view the recordings, please continue through the ticket purchasing process as normal.

Registrants will receive an email with a Dropbox link to view the recordings. Please check your junk/spam inbox as this will be an automatically generated email from Dropbox.

Updating Points:

Two updating points, per session, will be awarded to technical members that attend the online session(s).

If you are unable to attend the online session(s), but would still like to receive updating points for viewing the recording(s), please send through your notes to education@gymqld.org.au. Your notes need to include a minimum of 10 dot points. These notes will serve as evidence in engaging with the recordings.

Tips for Meeting Attendees

 Ensure you are using either a laptop, home computer, tablet/ipad or mobile phone that will receive the presentation clearly.

 Ensure your internet connection is performing well.

 When you log into zoom, ensure your first and last name appears. If your ticket was purchased in a different name, for example, your club administrator may have purchased your ticket for you, please place their name in brackets. eg. Jo Black (Julie McNaught).This is to ensure that we are able to reconcile all ticket purchases..

 Please mute your microphone

To help keep background noise to a minimum, make sure you mute your microphone when you are not speaking.

 Be mindful of background noise

When your microphone is not muted, avoid activities that could create additional noise.

 Position your camera properly

Be sure it is in a stable position and focused at eye level, if possible. Doing so helps create a more direct sense of engagement with the presenter and other participants. We encourage all attendees to leave their camera on.
