About this event

Gold Coast Health in partnership with Gold Coast Primary Health Network will be delivering the Gold Coast GP Maternity Alignment Program aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of local GPs wishing to provide antenatal care to women within the primary care setting.

Resources for GPs undertaking pregnancy care:

This is an RACGP approved CPD activity under the RACGP CPD Program: Educational Activities 1.5 hours, Measuring Outcomes 00 hours, Reviewing Performance 2.5 hours.

Please contact the GCGPMAP team with any queries via email on GPMaternity@health.qld.gov.au

If you have previously completed the GCGPMAP, this will be the same program from 2021 and 2022. An Alignment 2 workshop is being developed and planned for Sat 11 November 2023

Alignment 2 will only be available to GPs who have already completed Alignment 1 and will aim to cover perinatal mental health, prescribing in pregnancy and 1st trimester care including miscarriage.

The Gold Coast Health GP Maternity Alignment Program (GCGPMAP) aims to create an antenatal shared care framework between Gold Coast Health and GPs with:

1. Accessible, contemporary, regularly updated guidelines

2. Clear and known responsibilities between maternity care providers

3. Shared goals and measurable outcomes for the benefit of improved maternity care for women birthing at GCUH

4. Women having their obstetric care closer to home in a community setting.

5. Support for GPs to work to their scope in providing care in a standardised manner with access to necessary tertiary expertise when required.

6. Opportunities for relationship building between GPs, Obstetricians and Midwifes through sharing of resources and collaborating on the care of women.

A package of digital resources will be available including dedicated Antenatal Health Pathways that will outline our updated shared care guidelines, how to manage abnormal findings or results, and contact and referral information.

GPs successfully completing the Program and who provide consent, can have their names added to a public facing webpage acknowledging GPs who have completed the GP Maternity Alignment Program on the Gold Coast.
