To celebrate their inaugural camp, Girls Rock! Melbourne (GR!M) in collaboration with LISTEN have excitedly put together an all-ages evening showcasing a diverse array of female/non-binary centric bands. Hosted at the Thornbury Bowls Club as part of Darebin Music Feast, the gig will be raising funds for GR!M – a not-for-profit organisation that aims to empower girls and gender non-conforming youth through music.
Featuring performances by: The Girl Fridas, Swim Team, Lazertits, Huntly, Pillow Pro, Stina Tester + Cinta Masters, Romy Vager (RVG), and Chelsea Bleach. In between, DJs Jess Ribeiro, It Girls, Cat Xoo, and Nature Girl will provide a variety of pop, disco, and house tunes.
Modeled on the original GR! camps from the US, GR!M will offer campers the opportunity to form their own band, learn an instrument, watch live performances, participate in creative workshops, and write an original song to perform at a gig on their last day. Applications to sign up – whether as a camper or volunteer – will be available on the day.
This event will take place on stolen lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded.
