GCHCA Murugan Temple Maha Shivaratri invitation 2026
The Gold Coast Hindu Cultural Association is cordially inviting you and your family to join us to celebrate Maha Shivaratri.
Maha Shivaratri is a sacred festival night of Hindus. It celebrates the Grace of Shiva, the First Guru, from whom the yogic tradition originates. The planetary positions on this night are so powerful, a natural upsurge of energy in the human system occurs, which is beneficial for one’s physical and spiritual wellbeing.
Maha Shivaratri is celebrated annually on the 14th day of the Krishna Paksha (waning moon phase), it falls on the day before the moon in the month of Phalguna/Panguni.
On this day Shiva devotees observe fast and do various abhishekam with milk, water, flowers etc. on Shiva Linga. This auspicious day is believed to be the day of convergence of divine powers of Lord Shiva and Goddess Shakti. Religious activities are carried out with the chanting of "Om Namah Shivaya”.
