GCAP 2020: Pathways to Connect

About this Event

GCAP 2020

Games Connect Asia Pacific (GCAP) is Australia’s premier professional development and networking event for the game development industry, catering to a range of disciplines. Since it’s reboot in 2010, GCAP has grown and attracted an engaged audience and esteemed speakers from around the world.

GCAP is one of the first official events of Melbourne International Games Week and as of 2020, is run by the Interactive Games and Entertainment Association (IGEA) - the peak industry association representing the voice of Australian and New Zealand companies in the computer and video games industry.

GCAP 2020 is an industry-based conference focused on up-skilling the Australian game development industry via education, knowledge sharing and the provision of extended personal and business connections. Any proceeds generated are used for industry support, education and advocacy initiatives.

The theme for GCAP 2020 is Pathways to Connect. In a virtual space, GCAP 2020 will connect the local industry to each other, plus provide connections to international business, publishers, partners and funding.

GCAP Invest is being run on Wednesday 7 October, the final day of GCAP thanks to the generous support of our Platinum sponsor, Creative Victoria.

GCAP Invest will feature high profile and well-connected speakers from locally and abroad to educate attendees about the investment landscape, the different sources of funding available, the funding required for the duration of your project, plus how to present your product to potential investors.

We will have sessions about pitching, presenting your business case and even pitch practice.

For those studios ready to pitch games and game projects, they can potentially return on Tuesday 13 October to pitch their games to international publishers and investors via a business matching system.

Please note that there are some requirements for studios to meet prior to pitching to Publishers/Partners/Investors. Once you have purchased your ticket, please provide details about your project via this form and subject to criteria, we will connect you with potential partners.

GCAP Loading will take place on Wednesday 7 October (the final day of GCAP) thanks to support from our Platinum Sponsor Koch Media.

GCAP Loading is a chance for emerging, entry level and student developers to attend GCAP and learn from the experts about all of the intricacies of making a game and running a studio. With a focus on technical and general business talks, this is a must attend for those embarking on a career in game development.

Big Ant's Big Hug:

The Big Ant Big Hug means that Big Ant will kindly be paying for ALL GCAP tickets for all attendees.

Recognising the challenges many game developers are facing, Big Ant approached IGEA, the organiser of GCAP, with this generous offer as a way to offer support to the Australian games industry.

Please note that there is a $2 fee for each ticket, 100% of which will be donated to the Ready Foundation.

The Ready Foundation was established by AFL SportsReady and aims to assist in relieving poverty, suffering, distress or misfortune experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and other disadvantaged youth. Big Ant have recently hired an Indigenous person via their programme.

GCAP could not be delivered without the generous support of our sponsors:
