Garden Workshop Series with Cultivating Community

Join us for a free, hands-on garden workshop series at Five Farms!

Whether you're new to gardening or looking to deepen your knowledge, these monthly workshops will help you build practical skills in sustainable food growing, right in your local community garden.

Led by the experienced team at Cultivating Community, each session offers something new, with topics tailored to the seasons and local growing conditions.


📍 Location: Five Farms Communal Garden

📅 First Workshop: Saturday 31st January 2026

🕘 Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

🌱 Series runs: January – June 2026 (Last Saturday of the month)


🌿 Upcoming Workshops (January - June):

31 January 2026 – Summer maintenance of the garden
Learn how to keep your garden productive through heat and dry periods, including watering, mulching, pruning, and pest management strategies.


28 February 2026 – Drip irrigation
How to make a simple dripper irrigation system. We will be looking at the various parts needed to make an irrigation system, basic timers and how to create even water flow through your garden. Time will be allocated to making a simple drip irrigation line.


28 March 2026 – Plant protection
Plant protection: heat, frost and pests. Creating simple structures for protecting your crops, with materials available from your local garden provider.


25 April 2026 – Edible flowers
Explore which flowers are safe to eat, how to grow them, and creative ways to use them in cooking, teas, and garnishes.


30 May 2026 – Healthy soils for food growing
Understand the foundations of fertile soil, including structure, nutrients, and biology, and how to improve soil health for better yields.


27 June 2026 – Composting
Learn simple composting methods, what materials to use, and how to troubleshoot common problems to turn garden and kitchen waste into rich soil.


👥 Who Should Attend? These workshops are open to all Five Farms residents and community members—no experience necessary. Come for one or come for all!


🗓️ Program Note: We’ll be consulting with workshop participants later in the year to shape the next community-led winter workshop program, so your input will help us grow together.
