About this event

This program provides guidance for people living with dementia, their family members and family carers to plan for the future, once they have come to terms with a diagnosis of dementia and understand the symptoms and impacts of dementia.

It includes topics such as accommodation and living arrangements, financial considerations, decision-making, planning health care, options for people in employment, and strategies for communicating and implementing plans.

Suitable for: People living with dementia and their family carers and family members. Participants should have a good understanding of dementia and feel ready to think about the future in detail. This program is not intended as professional education for workers employed in the health or aged care sectors.

This program runs over 5 sessions. To complete this program, you must attend all these five sessions:

  • Tuesday, 07 May 2024, from 10:00am to 12:30pm
  • Tuesday, 14 May 2024, from 10:00am to 12:30pm
  • Tuesday, 21 May 2024, from 10:00am to 12:30pm
  • Tuesday, 28 May 2024, from 10:00am to 12:30pm
  • Tuesday, 04 June 2024, from 10:00am to 12:30pm

Dementia Australia's facilitators have specialist dementia knowledge, skills and experience. This program is delivered interactively, you will be encouraged to share your experiences alongside other participants giving you an opportunity to develop new support networks.

How do I access the online program?

A staff member will email you a link to access the zoom session. If you have not used Zoom previously our team member will provide support before the event to ensure you can join in with ease.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is ideal if you can bring your ticket. However, if you have completed your registration we will have your details and forgetting your ticket won’t be a problem.
