Event description

Exponential Technologies are Changing Everything....

The skills we need to teach youth to prepare for the future, and the skills our existing workforce will need are going to go through a rapid evolution. Our existing paradigms of business and education are under significant threat - we all need to change and adapt rapidly, or we face a future in which we simply become irrelevant. The common thread which ties these themes together is Learning. We need to utilise the technologies that are emerging now, to support the organisations of the future – and we need to take action now in order to prepare for a future of accelerating change.

The great opportunity of exponential technologies is that individuals and small groups can have real impact on the future. We now have access to the resources and tools that were until recently were only available to the largest multinationals, and that that amplifies our potential. The one-day Future of Learning Conference (buy tickets) will set the scene, give you a snapshot of the current state of learning technologies, the exponential mindset, and a common understanding of the issues.

The Future of Learning Masterclass Experience is an opportunity to extend the learning experience from the Conference (buy conference tickets) and turn insights into action, while experiencing an intimate environment of thought leaders and activists.

For two days following the conference, this event comprises of:

  • A two-day Adult Masterclass for up to 40 selected leaders of today, from a range of different backgrounds and experiences on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th July 2018 (attendance of the one day conference on Monday 9th July is a pre-requisite, please buy tickets here)

  • A two-day Youth Masterclass for up to 40 leaders of the future, young people from Year 7-10 and their mentors on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th July 2018 (by application only - go to Youth Masterclass)

Business leaders and educators alike will work on cutting edge projects to make an actual difference to learning environments and techniques in the future, guided by Jason and other leading futurists.

This is your opportunity to get up close and personal with leading futurist and design thinker Jason Swanson, brought over from the USA especially to facilitate the Future of Learning event in Christchurch, NZ. Local futurists Cheryl Doig and Hamish Duff (the event hosts) will also be on hand to provide their expertise, plus a team of mentors and entrepreneurs to inspire and challenge.

After this two day Masterclass, you will have worked through future learning concepts at a practical level, that will put you ahead of the game and ready to take action.
