Fun with Indigo

Fun with Indigo

33 Ashfield StEast Brisbane, QLD
Saturday, Dec 20, 2025 from 9:30 am to 12 pm AEST
Overview

Join us for a fun dying workshop where you can create your own personalised art!

Come along and enjoy a small group class with indigo dye artist Saisai (IG @picrnicrsaisai).

In this 2.5hr workshop, we will explore the different ways to create patterns on fabric by wrapping, twisting, folding, clamping, and sewing. Together we will mix the ingredients to create an indigo vat for the group to use.

The following materials will be provided:

2 pieces of material to dye – 1 50*50cm handkerchief & 1 unisex blouse

You are also encouraged to bring your own item to dye ( price - AUD10)

  • 1 personal textile item (scarf, T-shirt, pillowslip, a shirt, pair of shorts or summer dress, Watercolour papers can be dyed as well.). Made from natural fibres only: cotton, linen, hemp, silk, or wool (No synthetics. Acrylics will be very muted, and you may be disappointed in the results.). Item must be clean and pre-washed, with no fabric softener or finishes.

Further information:

  • No previous experience is required. This workshop is great for beginners or experienced creatives alike.
  • Workshops can be messy so please wear old, dark clothing in case you get splashes of indigo on your clothing.
  • This workshop is suitable for all, from individuals to couples and groups.
  • Maximum class size is 4 people so please be quick.

Creating something from scratch and by hand really is a wonderful personal journey and a great way to relax and get back in touch with your inner calm. Gifting a workshop to someone else can also be a great way to share creativity and gift without excessive consumption.

PS - we do not offer refunds for this event. We do however let you transfer the ticket to someone else if you cannot attend yourself.
