From Routine to Ritual: Mindful Movement and Cooking Urban Retreat

Farnham Street Neighbourhood Learning CentreFlemington, VIC
Saturday, Feb 28 from 10 am to 2:30 pm AEDT
Overview

A half-day Melbourne experience where everyday chores become relaxing!

What if everyday things—exercise, cooking, eating—felt less like chores and more like grounding rituals?

This one-off half-day urban retreat, created while our movement teacher is visiting Melbourne, invites you to slow down, tune in, and turn boring routines into grounding rituals. By focusing fully on the task at hand, you learn how to let the world fall away and tap into your natural creativity. Through mindful movement, breathwork, a hands-on cooking class, and a shared silent lunch you’ll explore how you can enjoy the process of these daily tasks—at your own pace.

What you will do:

Mindful movement and breathing class led by a certified mat Pilates and mindfulness teacher:

  • Easy exercises and stretches suitable for all levels
  • Connect with your body and breath to release tension
  • Reduce both physical and mental stress through guided practice

Hands-on plant-based cooking class led by a nutritionist:

  • Flavourful dal
  • Fresh flatbreads
  • Seasonal salad
  • Chocolate tofu pudding with berries

Silent shared lunch, exploring flavours, textures, aroma and sensations.

Your hosts:

Lindy is a certified Pilates teacher and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course facilitator specialising in mindful, accessible movement. Her teaching supports body awareness, choice, and moving in a way that respects individual rhythm and capacity. She has organised numerous retreats overseas and is bringing her experience to Melbourne.

Sonya is a food educator with a background in public health nutrition and commercial cookery. She helps people reconnect with cooking as an embodied practice—focused on creativity, enjoyment, and real-life skills.
