2/1 Travers StCoconut Grove, NT
Monday, Feb 23, 2026 from 10 am to 12 pm ACST
Overview

A calm, process-led art workshop for children aged 4–9, exploring colour, imagination and mask-making through watercolour, movement and play

From Colour to Mask: Watercolour Explorations is a gentle, process-led art workshop for children aged 4–9 years, designed to nurture creativity, observation, and imaginative play.

In this small-group session, children will explore colour, shape, and expression through guided watercolour activities, using simple tracing, layering, and mark-making techniques. Their paintings will gradually transform into mask-inspired artworks, encouraging children to follow their curiosity rather than aim for a “perfect” result.

The workshop concludes with a soft movement and music improvisation, where children respond to colour, rhythm, and feeling using their artwork as inspiration. This supports confidence, embodiment, and joyful creative expression.

This workshop is:

  • Calm and supportive
  • Montessori-inspired and process-focused
  • Suitable for preschool and early primary children
  • Focused on exploration rather than performance or outcomes

All materials are provided.
No prior art experience is needed.

What parents should expect:

  • A small group (max 8 children)
  • A structured but gentle session
  • No pressure to “finish” or copy
  • A safe, respectful environment
  • Children leave with artwork and a positive creative experience

    Who it's for:
Ideal for children who enjoy drawing, painting, storytelling, movement, and imaginative play in a calm, supportive setting.
