FrogID week citizen science event

FrogID week citizen science event

Overview

Come along to experience Bendigo's Wanyarram Dum site, appreciate gatjin (water), learn about our frogs and how to use the free FrogID app.

As part of the Yaram Yaram Bayikina (Bendigo Creek Reawakening) project, the North Central CMA, Djaara and the City of Greater Bendigo are keen to better understand frog populations across the Bendigo Creek catchment.

Come along to this informal outdoor gathering to:

· Learn about the cultural importance of gatjin (water).

· Experience and understand this gorgeous site that shares Djaara knowledge and has been rewilded to become a thriving biodiversity hotspot.

· Get to know the frogs of the Bendigo region with a talk by Lu-Wei Spinks from the City of Greater Bendigo’s biodiversity team.

· Learn how to use the FREE FrogID app and practise using it on site.

· Hear about the Yaram Yaram Bayikina project and how you can get involved

· Participate in a frog chorus – think pub choir but with frog calls!

Prep: Participants to have downloaded the FrogID app beforehand. Instructions here

Afterwards: Go forth and use the FrogID during FrogID Week and beyond to capture to amphibian activity in your neck of the woods.

Getting there: Parking available just off Knight St (look for event signage) or at the Rowing Club at Lake Weeroona with a short distance to the site via the walking trail.
