About this event

Please note this registration system is only available to rock climbers that will be carrying both a rope and rack of climbing hardware.

This registration is free. By registering for your walk you are helping the Parks and Wildlife Service to reduce the potential for long-term damage to fragile remote bush walking environments by limiting daily departures. Many sites, such as Tahune, do not have capacity to accommodate additional users due to the terrain.

Please consider the following information carefully:

Plan for a safe trip and be prepared. Climbing in alpine areas is an amazing and rewarding experience. Choose climbs that are well within your capability. Frenchmans Cap is a serious, remote cliff. Understand that response to any accidents will take time and may be very challenging.

This registration system is not a safety system. Individuals are responsible for their own safety and preparation as per the Walk Safely messages, including recording their trip intentions in the walker logbooks at the trailhead. To make the most of your trip and ensure you are well prepared please read our Safety in Parks information.

A valid national parks pass is required. This can be purchased in advance online.

Follow the ‘Leave No Trace’ principles: Please respect the natural and cultural values that make this Track part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area: Leave No Trace | Parks & Wildlife Service Tasmania.

Stay safe and good climbing!

Walker registration - protection of sensitive remote bush walking tracks.

PWS has introduced free walker registration for several sensitive remote bush walking tracks.

By registering you are helping to preserve the sensitive environment on these tracks by limiting the number of walkers to the available campsites. Many sites do not have capacity to accommodate additional walkers who are camping due to the terrain and remote location.

The PWS thank you for registering your walk.
