Forward-head posture (or tech neck) is a modern affliction. The rise of technology – particularly hand-held technology – and our increasing reliance on it is causing us to sit more than we ever have in human history and to bend our necks forward as we look down at our screens. The average consumer spends 5.5 hours a day on their phones - how's that for impacting your performance!
How does spine health impact athletic & cognitive performance?
- Upper-back (Thoracic) spine issues: This can restrict rotation of your trunk - especially an issue if you're a boxer, golfer or tennis player.
- Pelvis out of alignment: This can put more strain on your back and knees than your glutes, which can be an issue if you're a runner.
- Poor posture: This can increase the load on your shoulders and limit proper movement - a problem if you play volleyball or lift weights.
- Tech neck: This could be impacting your cognitive performance, concentration and effectiveness at work.
