The UCAT exam is very different to the UMAT (previous test replaced by the UCAT)—not only in its format and the types of questions it asks, but also in terms of how much time you are given to complete it. In the past, students had an average of 80.6 seconds per UMAT question (134 questions over 3 hours). Now, you can have as little as 14.2 seconds per UCAT question (for Section 4).
At its worst, this means that candidates only have 17.6% of the time they had for solving UMAT questions to solve UCAT questions. Put another way, candidates need to solve UCAT questions up to 5.6x faster in order to finish the test in time. The rigid time restraints mean that students need to be far more familiar with the techniques for solving UCAT questions correctly and quickly if they wish to remain competitive.
